Why the IHTA was formed....

IHTA was formed back in 1998 to fulfill a need to provide better communications and understanding with the people that use the Ionia State Recreation Area and the Park Staff. In addition to providing communication, there is also an occasional need for work to be done. As with many governmental agencies that have to work with ever shrinking budgets, the DNR is faced with limited funds and staff. It is one of the IHTA's goals to help maintain and increase the quality of the equine trails, equine campground, and day use area.

While the main concern of the IHTA is the portion of the Ionia State Recreation Area that concerns equine use, ultimately, the goal is to get all interested people (hikers, bikers, campers, fisherman or whatever) to participate . As with any successful communication, your input is always welcome. Please send any input you have to President@IoniaHorseTrailsAssociation.Org .
