On April 21, 2018 we installed wooden Corrals on sites 114 & 116!!
These two sites also have picket posts for your added convenience.
We left the posts at the rear of the stalls tall so you can hang your hay bag easier.
Please note the hitching post provided, and never tie your horse to the corral itself.
On April 1, 2017 the Ionia Horse Trail Association together with the Ionia State Recreation Area installed corrals on seven campsites, making Ionia the first State Park in Lower Michigan to provide corrals for your horses. Soon this information will be updated on the D.N.R. Reservations Website. Meanwhile, the sites with corrals are numbers 139, 141 (not pictured here),
144 and 146 pictured left, and 143, 145, and 147 pictured right.
When the trees leaf out, we'll get new pictures of individual campsites for this page and the DNR Reservations website.
